Low smoke halogen-free cable refers to a new type of environmentally friendly cable that does not add halogen elements such as F, Cl, Br, l, At, or environmental substances such as lead, cadmium, chromium, mercury, etc. during the selection of raw materials and production process. It does not emit toxic smoke during combustion. Usually represented by WD.
What are the characteristics of low smoke and halogen-free cables
1. Durable weather resistance, able to be used from minus 30 degrees Celsius to minus 105 degrees Celsius;
2. Good softness, with a hardness between 80-90, making it smoother to use in narrow spaces;
3. Has a high volume resistivity: PVC wires are generally 1012-1015 Ω/cm3, and low smoke halogen-free wires are greater than 1016 Ω/cm3;
4. Has good elasticity and viscosity;
5. Has good high-voltage resistance characteristics: PVC wires are generally resistant to more than 10KV, while low smoke halogen-free wires can withstand up to 15KV or more;
6. Strong tensile strength, larger than general PVC wires: General PVC wires have a tensile strength greater than 1.05Kgf/mm2, while low smoke halogen-free wires have a tensile strength greater than 1.2Kgf/mm2;
7. Burning does not produce toxic black smoke, only a small amount of white smoke.
This type of cable is used in subways, stations, radio and television stations, oil platforms, high-rise buildings, hotels, telephone exchanges and computer control centers, nuclear power plants, important military bases, and places with dense personnel and low air density. In addition to maintaining good performance, it is also a consideration for everyone‘s safety, in order to buy more escape time and environment for everyone in the event of a fire.
With the advancement of technology and market demand, low smoke and halogen-free materials are constantly upgrading. Here are some commonly used low smoke and halogen-free flame retardant cable materials.
1. Plastic low smoke and halogen-free flame retardant fuel has a temperature resistance level of 70 ℃ and 90 ℃. Generally, the standard product has an oxygen index of 32 or above, and has excellent mechanical processing and manufacturing performance. It can be widely used as a protective sheath for power cables, communication cables, low smoke and halogen-free cable material control cables, and marine cables.
2. Irradiation cross-linked low smoke and halogen-free special cable materials are generally used in special places such as electric locomotives, oil exploration, ships, etc., and have oil resistance and high temperature resistance.
3. The performance of thermal low smoke halogen-free flame-retardant insulation materials is similar to that of low smoke halogen-free protective sleeves, with high insulation performance standards, suitable for insulation layers of power cables, communication cables, electronic wires, etc.
4. Soft low smoke halogen-free flame retardant elastic materials refer to elastic materials with a hardness standard of 75-85 (shore A) (the hardness standard for ordinary halogen-free materials is around 95). With the decrease of material hardness, the physical and mechanical properties, heat resistance deformation performance, and flame retardant performance of the product will be affected to a certain extent. They are suitable for elevator flat cables, large square car wires, electronic wires with high flexibility requirements, and other soft requirements.
5. The thermoplastic low smoke halogen-free flame retardant oxygen barrier layer is used for the inner protective layer of power cables, which has high flame retardant requirements and can improve the overall flame retardant effect of the cable. The flame retardant standard of the cable insulation sheath layer is appropriately reduced.
6. Photovoltaic low smoke and halogen-free cable materials are a rapidly developing branch in recent years, characterized by heat aging resistance, acid and alkali resistance, water resistance, high temperature resistance, and good flame resistance.
